Cloud Atlas – review of the book

This is one of the books which I was curious about after watching the movie. I liked the movie very much. Also, I am one of those who thinks that books are almost always better than their movie adaptations. So, I read this book, and I was right again.
This is a cross-genre novel with humor, thriller, mystery, drama and whatnot, all together in one. I would not say that it is a collection of 6 connected stories, not at all. It is one and only one story with many twists and turns.
I loved the way Mitchell chose different ways to narrate the parts and how it all came down to one thing, in the end, one act of kindness ripples through lifetimes and creates a revolution.
I am still getting a chill just remembering some amazing passages from the book, for example, “Yet what is any ocean but a multitude of droplets?”. Those who read it or have watched the movie will surely remember this line.
So, I would recommend it to everyone, yes, I am definitely going to tell about it to almost everyone I have any sort of conversation with about books in the future.
