Not Alone

What Pegman Saw: Talnakh, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia

I think I saw someone, peaking from one of those windows.

That can’t be. It’s just my mind playing tricks on me.

Why am I talking to myself? Well, that’s what you do when everyone’s dead and you don’t want to go crazy in the vast silence. You talk to yourself, like a crazy person. That’s all so confusing, I know.

Something moved, again. At the same window or maybe the one below it. I have to check what, or who, is it. I wish it’s food! Oh, it’s been so long since I had any meat in my stomach.

There it is, peaking from the same window, waving at me! It’s small, but it’s easier to win it’s trust when it’s small.

It’s a she actually, 6 years old maybe, coming down, walking towards me now.

Oh, it’s so easy! I’ve never found food so easily, literally coming towards me!

  1. Chilling story! The narrator started with my sympathy and then lost it completely by the end. Well done. Great to see you on Pegman!

  2. A chilling tale from a sympathetic/unsympathetic narrator, which reminded me of my wife (😇) when hunger kicks in survival takes over. Only joking darling. 😬
